4th ASYNCHRONOUS meeting

This week's is asynchronous - meaning that you will work together but not in one meeting together. Individually you will review materials related to the two telecollaborative projects carried out in conjunction with researchers and teachers, bearing in mind the theory you have seen thus far. You will then combine your information for you group. The discussion leader and scribe have special roles. What to do:

  • Everyone should have viewed the summary video of the project and the teachers' diary (project blog).

  • Each member of the group should have looked at either year 1 or year 2 project (as assigned)

 

You will now combine your information for the group .

  • The discussion leader will send you reminders to go through the materials. They will send adapted versions of these questions. The questions will be adapted by each leader to guide the information gathering according to the specifics of the group's evolving project (adapting the questions to best seek ideas for the group project). The discussion leader will set the deadline for posting the information and ideas but everything must be done BEFORE the first f2f class following the UAB internship week.

  • The scribe will set up a system (e.g. googledocs, padlet) in order to gather the group member's notes and ideas from the material. In particular, members should pay  attention to comments that 1) can be used to modify and improve your project and 2) highlight gaps and amendments the group suggests for the two projects you are reviewing.

  • Everyone should come to class ready to quickly describe the project you analyzed and to discuss these points (the scribe should summarize and share notes with everyone).

 

At some time during this week, the scribe should quickly gather preferences regarding the distribution of texts to read for meeting 5: Your group has been assigned a chapter to read. Apart from this, EVERY MEMBER of the group should select another chapter individually. Try to make sure that all of the chapters are covered in your group. The discussion leader is in charge of finding out who wants to read which text - or can simply assign the texts. This 'asynchronous discussion' can be included in the same email as the questions about the project. The discussion leader should pass on the information to the scribe for posting in the folder.

 

The discussion leader will also choose your next discussion leader and scribe for meeting 5.
