Instructions:

There is one website that is compulsory for everyone: Global Nomads. Explore the whole website, in particular look at the projects that are oriented towards social issues.

The other resources have been divided up amongst you. See assignments here.

What you should do while viewing these resources:

First review the website as a resource:

  • Take notes of what language teachers can find out from these resources. You will be working with other classmates to create a visual presentation of each resource, so collect materials that can help with this (screenshots, links, etc.). Note especially, what is most useful for others.

  • Note any shortcomings you find (regarding it as a resource). For instance, you may find that the resource does not give ideas on HOW to implement the project or that the materials are not downloadable, etc.

Next, review the content as an evaluator of the projects presented (in the case of several, choose one you like).

  • Are there any pedagogical 'problems'? (sufficient scaffolding, appropriate assessment, etc.).

  • Find at least two new ideas of something you might add or change (a new activity, a new dimension to an already existing task, different complementary materials, a new way of interacting between the language learners, etc.).

  • Be ready to explain WHY you think it's a good change. Reference reliable resources concerning language learning and language teaching.

Note that there are 2 tabs to visit on the Unicollaboration website (in the list above). Please do NOT sign up as a user to the site (it is only for university teachers to find partners). On the Unicollaboration website you should:

  • Visit the expert tips and task database (there is a tab on training for expert discussions on carrying out telecollaboration).

  • Visit the section on intercultural assessment (evaluation tab)

There are no limitations on the other websites.

We have assigned only 2 resources per person, but we do recommend that you take some time to look at ALL the websites, if not now, at least in the future if you are truly keen on being informed, innovative language teachers!
